Recreation of a Quaker Wedding from 19th century reflecting the simplicity, spiritual and civic values of William Penn. Chichester Meetinghouse is planning a "Freedom Seekers" wedding. Most Quakers don't believe there are "slaves" but that people can be "enslaved." Freedom Seeker is the term used for those who were fleeing the south during the 1800's. Quakers would preform weddings for those who wished this first step of basic human rights. Quakers figure prominently in the history of abolitionists and the underground railroad.
