Public Quaker Meeting for Worship
611 Meetinghouse Rd, Boothwyn, PA 19061
Everyone Welcome
Chichester Meetinghouse is on the National Registry of Historic Places. The present fieldstone building has been standing since 1769, replacing the log structure that was destroyed by fire 1768. The log Meetinghouse was erected in 1688. Prior to that Quakers were holding services in homes in this area since 1662. The Chichester Meetinghouse has never been updated—no electricity, no running water. It is a step back in time to a place where Quakers truly worshiped within a testimony of simplicity.
On this day we will be holding a traditional style Quaker worship, waiting in silence for a Devine call to minister to those attending. We would welcome you to attend and learn about our unique service and also learn a bit of the history of the Quaker community in Delaware County.
